Ethan Lewis Maltby is a UK-based composer whose music has been performed in cinemas, stadiums and theatres internationally. His work for the stage includes collaborations with Sir Ian McKellen and Peter Schaufuss, scoring Hamlet for the Edinburgh Festival Ballet, and the original score, arrangements and soundscape for the play The Last Laugh, which enjoyed a West End run at the Noël Coward Theatre followed by extensive national tours.

Together with lyricist Jenna Donnelly, Ethan has written several original musicals including The Sparkle Thief, The Masters of Mystery, the upcoming Apparition Smith, and the acclaimed The Battle of Boat. Since its premiere by the National Youth Music Theatre, The Battle of Boat has been published by Theatrical Rights Worldwide and received multiple productions across the globe, with a full cast recording available. ​

 

Ethan is the creator, composer and director of Noise Ensemble, a percussion spectacle that toured the world extensively with performances at Wembley Stadium, The South Bank Centre, and on BBC’s Blue Peter. This was followed by the theatrical percussion show DrumChasers, which toured UK theatres featuring narration by Stephen Fry.

Outside of theatre, Ethan scores films, animations, and advertisements across a wide array of genres. He maintains a long-standing collaboration with acclaimed Spanish filmmaker Jesús Monllaó, notably scoring the multi-award-winning feature film Son Of Cain. In the world of professional sport, Ethan has composed for the NFL, UEFA, and several FA Cup Final Opening Ceremonies. His track, FA Overture, serves as the official players' walk-on anthem for major FA games, and he provides the sonic identity for World Rowing, composing for their international prize-giving ceremonies and official podcast.
